The graphic shows the sectors of participating start-ups from North Rhine-Westphalia according to the North Rhine-Westphalia Start-up Monitor 2019, Bundesverband Deutsche Start-ups e.V. The largest proportion, 28.8 per cent, are those in information and communication technology, followed by food, nutrition and consumer goods at 8.8 per cent. This is followed by lower percentages seen for other sectors. These include banks and financial institutions and others, which each come in at 6.5 per cent; consultancy and agencies at 6 per cent respectively; and Human Resources at 5.6 per cent. Medicine and healthcare, media and the creative industry, education, automotive/logistics/transport each take a share of between four and five per cent. The other sectors of property and construction, chemicals and pharmaceuticals/biology, leisure and sport/(online) gaming, farming and agriculture, tourism, energy/electricity, textiles, insurance, industrial products/raw materials, and water, refuse and recycling all stand at less than three per cent.
